Deal of the Week: Cruise the High Seas in Bargain-Basement Luxury (10/4/2002)

We've tracked down our Travel-Expert-in-Residence, Rudy Maxa, in the Scottish Highlands this week -- and, oddly enough, he has boats on his mind: namely, a bargain-basement deal for adventures on the high seas.

Luxury cruise line Windstar is offering $1,000 off each cabin on 15 different sailings in January.

While those big sailboats are fairly informal, "informality" in this case definitely does not mean roughing it.

So, how much?

The Caribbean sailings are the cheapest, beginning at about $1,500 per person for 7 days, taking into account the discount. Cruises along Costa Rica start as low as $1,600 for 7 days. Tahiti will cost you about $2,700, but that includes airfare from 78 gateway cities in North America. All lodging, food and shipboard activities are included for all three regions.

All prices are based on two people traveling together and staying in the same stateroom, and you must make your reservations by October 15th for sailings in January.
