Tacky Souvenir Story

We have a tradition of buying the tackiest ashtray we could find for my mother. The hope is to find an ashtray that is so tacky that my mother will be so embarrassed to use it that she'll stop smoking.

None of the ashtrays we've found has worked, but one came very close. We got it in Puerto Rico. It's a whale covered with little seashells. You put the cigarette in the whale's open mouth, and the smoke comes up through the blow hole.

But I do have to register a complaint: With the demise of smoking, it's getting harder and harder to find "good" tacky ashtrays.
