A Classic Travel Trip

Back in August of 1974 I traveled by bicycle through the (hot) reaches of the deep South, riding from New Orleans to Hot Springs, AR on mostly backroads and camping most nights in the tent packed on the back of my 10-speed.

I traveled about 1000 miles in the two weeks I spent on the road, and it was one of my most memorable (and probably healthy) vacations ever. Although I traveled alone (I couldn't convince any of my pals to go along)I found that people in odd places like Vicksburg, MS, Winnsboro, LA, El Dorado, AR and on Lake Ouchita in Arkansas were one of the most interesting features of the trip.
