My Last Trip Ever

I decided to take my dream trip in 1992 to get it all out of my system so I could finally put all this wanderlust to rest and settle down, have kids, fulfill my Mom's dream for me.

I had fantasized about a trip to India and Nepal for years - trekking the Himalayas, volunteering with Mother Teresa, the Taj Majal, riding a camel through the desert, the whole bit. I quit my job, bought a ticket, and off I went to spend three months traveling for the LAST TIME.

I was sick the whole time, spent a week in the hospital in Calcutta, had dysentery twice, giardia, head lice, and even fell in an open sewer!! But I phoned home and said that three months just wasn't enough and wound up staying FIVE, and even though I came home with Hepatitis A, the desire to travel was only intensified, and I haven't stopped yet. I returned a few months ago from two years in the Peace Corps. But it's okay, Mom understands.
