Worst Trip

One trip that was less than enjoyable was the time about five years ago that my Mom and I went to Mazatlan. We went to dinner on December 28th and I didn't get out of bed until New Year's Eve.

We each ordered a margarita at dinner and oysters on the half shell for an appetizer. Our drinks had been drugged! We both became incredibly intoxicated within about 10 minutes of sipping on our beverages. While my mom stepped away to use the restroom, I proceeded to have a reaction to the poisoning and vomited all over the table in the middle of the busy restaurant we were at, and her purse was snatched at the same moment I was getting sick.

We got back to our hotel and I stayed in bed for the next three days, all because of a few sips from a margarita. I was studying art history at the time. Dutch still life paintings, that had a lot of oysters in them. I went back to college and had a really hard time getting through that next semester of Dutch still life slides because they were all these huge images of oysters projected in the auditoriums where I had classes. It just brought back these feelings of nausea and those memories of that night in Mazatlan every time I went to class.

That's all for now! I've had many more GREAT vacations than bad ones, but that one sticks out as a less enjoyable one in my mind.
