Greece and Italy

You were wrong advising that poor lady to fly from Athens to Rome. Take the ferry from Piraeus through the Corinth Canal to Corfu, stopping and staying at all the different beautiful green unbaked IONIAN islands to Corfu. Anti Paxos is particularly beautiful. Stay a few days exploring charming Corfu and a little of the Greek Mainland across the straits and then take the handy overnight ferry to Brendisi or Bari and travel by train up to Tuscany. Much more enjoyable and much more to see than the back of an aircraft seat.
