Coming Home by Anne Marie Ruff, 2/01/2002
A couple of weeks ago, we took a musical tour of Asia with one of our regular contributors, Anne Marie Ruff. Anne Marie took us into the Beijing subway system, down the streets of Katmandu, into a festive wedding party in Turkmenistan, and out to the desert oases of Inner Mongolia. As she played us these wonderful and exotic pieces of music she had recorded along the way, she noted that her travels and involvement in such faraway countries has made it harder and harder for her to imagine being back in the "tame and predictable" USA.
