Eccentric Islands

Eccentric Islands: An Interview with Bill Holm

Real Audio Listen with RealAudio          help Need audio help?

Author, poet, teacher and musician Bill Holm is crazy about islands. Who could blame him? His ancestral roots were once firmly planted in the frozen volcanic tundra of Iceland and his last name even means "island" in Old Norse. Armed with this rather eccentric devotion and an adventurous spirit, Bill has journeyed around the world visiting islands from Madagascar to Minnesota. Yes, Minnesota.

But some of the most interesting islands he discovered weren't located on any map. In fact, you might be surprised to learn that you have one of your very own. We all do. They are the islands we build in our own minds. Bill wrote about these islands, real and imaginary, in his latest book aptly titled Eccentric Islands. We spoke to him recently and asked him to tell us more. Listen in.
