An Encounter with Nature

I spent a weekend near Swansea, Wales, and wanted to find a natural monument known as "Arthur's Stone." The family at whose house I was staying gave me specific directions -- it would be about a 15-minute walk -- and told me to be very careful that I took the correct path, otherwise I would get hopelessly lost on the heath. Well, I thought I took the correct turn, but I didn't. I wandered for nearly an hour in chest-high weeds and grass just trying to find my way down off the low hill. When I finally reached a road again, I was at the complete opposite end of the (fortunately) small town. The hill was small, too -- I felt ridiculous for having lost my way so utterly, but I felt a whole new respect for King Lear and Catherine Heathcliff...
