Travel Book

I have thoroughly enjoyed the writings of Frances Mayes. Two years ago I read Under the Tuscan Sun when it was offered through Quality Paperback Books. I was delighted to discover while at my local bookstore her latest book, Bella Tuscany. I couldn't put it down, and was disappointed when I reached the last page that there wasn't more to read.

I felt her descriptions of the local Cortona residents were genuine. She and her husband, Ed, have made some wonderful friends. It isn't as satirical as Mayle's Provence books, and that is fine with me. I don't know if the French are really as backward as Mayle has portrayed them to be. In Mayle's books, I want to head to Italy and embrace all these wonderful people.
