Favorite Travel Writer

When I was in college I went on Semester at Sea. Basically it is a study abroad program, in which you travel around the world while taking classes on a ship and stopping in about nine countries.

By the time I was in the South China Sea we had both almost finished our journeys (I read the book so that his journey coincided with mine). I felt the need to let this author know how I felt about his book. When I got to Japan, the final port on the trip, I sent a letter to the publishing company printed in the book. By the time I got to my home in Maryland there was a letter waiting for me from Jeff Greenwald.

I was so touched that he took the time to write me back. The style of the letter was that same style I had fallen in love with in the book. It was the most amazing letter and it was the perfect way to end my journey.
