Stupid Cartes

I was amazed when I heard your discussion of the disappearing 25 cent reward for returning the cartes. Those carte people must be TOTAL IDIOTS. I have been traveling between Cleveland and St. Louis quite a bit. I can ALWAYS find a free carte sitting around in St. Louis. In some cases, the UNRETURNED cartes are so frequent that they block everything. Why? No reward for returning the cartes. TWA has a couple standing around with a big sign "Counter use only", etc. In Cleveland, I can remember seeing maybe 5-6 cartes in 30 weeks of twice weekly transit through the airport (that is, I see one carte for every 5-6 visits). In St. Louis, I can count on, EVERY SINGLE TIME I GO TO THE AIRPORT, 20-30 free cartes just standing around.

Capitalism has its problems. However, the 25 cent reward is EFFICIENT. It would generate jobs for tramps, and would more than pay for itself in increased carte rentals. I have NEVER EVER seen anyone pay for a carte in St. Louis.

-Paul
