The Way to a Man's Heart...

It was at the Radisson Hotel Roberts in Muncie Indiana that I encountered an extraordinary level of service * BATH-room service, to be precise. One evening there was a knock on my door. Welcoming the interruption, I invited in three very apologetic maintenance men. The hotel had been undergoing renovations, and it seemed there was water dripping in the room below me. Could they inspect my bathroom for a leak?

While they put the junior guy to work on a loose fitting, I asked if they made house calls, as I had a leaking toilet back home in Boston. Think of it as a working vacation I suggested. They declined, but cheerfully and patiently instructed me on parts and procedures necessary for my repair.

Now, other hotels brag that their staff bows and scrapes, their lounge is hopping, or the linens come adorned with candy. But how many travelers return to their room to find nestled at the foot of the bed, boxed in green and red, elegant as any Godiva, their very own toilet tank repair kit?

Slavish bellhops disconcert me, chocolate makes me fat, but back home even now my FLUIDMASTER 100A FILL VALVE stands guard against that wasteful trickling sound.
