When I was traveling in Egypt, I spent New Year's Eve in Cairo. I was living with an Egyptian family. We went to their friends to celebrate the change of the year. In my country (Germany), I was used to going outside and watching other people's fireworks. When tried to do so, I was strongly advised to stay inside. I was told it could be very dangerous, since some people would throw their (broken?) TV sets out their windows (I guess for the loud BANG???)
