Celebrity Sightings

Years ago, while hitchhiking around Europe, I stopped in Monaco just as the preparations for the Grand Prix auto race were being made. It was no surprise to be able to see Princess Grace riding in the parade. But I nearly ran into one of the parade spectators and was speechless when I realized it was one of my personal favorite heartthrobs, the late Steve McQueen! He was as handsome as in his films, but oh, so short!

In the early 1980s, I literally bumped into Barbra Streisand while we both dismounted ski lifts in Vail, Colo. She was short, too!

And, while visiting the set of the movie "Dead Man Walking" in New York City because my brother Richard was the production designer, I met both Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn. Yep, both short!

I enjoy your show, often listening to it as 6 a.m. Sunday morning on WHYY Philadelphia. The problem is, sometimes I drift off to a half-sleep and place myself right in the show. The downside is that when I want to contribute something to the show, you all just keep talking and then it's over!
