Legendary Lighthouses
Lighthouses evoke powerful emotional responses. To a sailor, a lighthouse is a comforting sight: a refuge from the dangers of stormy seas; a beacon of light that illuminates a dark sky, guiding ships safely into harbor. For the rest of us, a lighthouse serves a less practical purpose. Solitary and beautiful, they're often associated with romance and intrigue. Producer and author John Grant understands their allure. He shares his fascination with these coastal beacons in a six part travel series on PBS called "Legendary Lighthouses." The series airs nationwide between now and mid-November.
