You know that great quote from humorist Robert Benchley? It was Benchley who once said, "In America, there are two classes of travel: first class or with children." But as I get older, I think more about adult children traveling with their parents. I know some who look forward to traveling with their parents and some who can't stand the thought.

Mother's Day weekend got me to thinking about traveling with my parents. I really have never done that, unless you count the time I took my mother from Washington, D.C., to New York City to see Cirque du Soleil. We had a great time, but it was also 12 years ago. Which makes me not such a great son, especially given my job as a travel guy. I ought to do better. I will do better. My mother turns 80 this year, and she still works hard as a stockbroker. She deserves . . . Paris. There, it's decided. Mom, pick the date.
