Deal of the Week: Sushi in Japan...for Less (7/20/2001)

Japan Airlines is kicking off a one-week sale onflights between the US and Japan good for travel beginning September ninth and ending December 16th. You can fly from LA, San Francisco, Chicao, Dallas, and New York to Tokyo and on to a dozen other Asian cities at unheard-of prices. New York to Hong Kong is $698 round trip if you fly Monday through Thursday, $748 on weekends. New York to Beijing or Shanghai is $658 during the week.

A $700 fare from the West Coast to Asia used to be a great bargain. From the East Coast, it's a steal. But the important thing to keep in mind is that you must book your tickets on or before July 27 - next Friday.

If you're going to Tokyo and crave sushi, I like a little place right on the fringe of the city's huge, wholesale fish market - the Tsukiji Market. It's called Daiwa Sushi. But it's tiny and even at 6 in the morning, when I like to go, it's crowded. But I don't think anyone will have trouble scoring world-class sushi once they get to Tokyo! So check out JAL's sale and tell 'em I sent you, cause that's my Deal of the Week.
