Deal of the Week: Flying Business Class (7/13/2001)

This is the season to splurge. Three airlines are offering two-for-one companion tickets for business class travel. My guess is the downturn in business travel over the last few months is leaving more than the usual number of empty seats toward the front of the plane. And Virgin Atlantic, Spanair, and Cathay Pacific are doing two-fers - your traveling companion flies free - if you're both flying the same itinerary, you both go business class for the price of one. You can go to London, Hong Kong and Spain. Virgin's deal to London is good for what it calls Upper Class travel 'til the last day of August. It's on flights out of Boston, Chicago, Miami, Orlando, LA, Newark, and most flights out of JFK and San Francisco. Cathay Pacific is offering two-for-one in business on its daily, non-stop flight between JFK to Hong Kong through the end of November.

This includes just about any major city in Spain, if you catch Spaniar out of Washington's Dulles airport. Buy your business class ticket by mid-August and you get a twofer through the last day of August. That's high travel season.
