Travelers' Aid: Volunteering

Real Audio Listen With Realaudio          help Need audio help?

Listening to Joelle's story, I thought about the guts it must have taken to make that first move: calling Doctors Without Borders and signing up. In fact, there are lots of different kinds of volunteering you can do abroad - ranging from high intensity relief work to things like helping out on an archeological dig, or counting trees in Colorado. Donna Salacuse joins us now for our weekly "Traveler's Aid". She heads up the International Volunteer Programs Association, on the web at volunteer-international.org.

If you'd like us to address your travel questions or concerns, send us an email. Or, you can snail-mail them in. The address is The Savvy Traveler, in care of the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, California 90007. Or call us at 888-SAV-TRAV.
