Will Sing for Bus Fare
Dear Rudy,
On a recent show, you asked for ideas on the best place to go people watching. This isn't so much people WATCHING as it is people LISTENING.
While in Cancun this past summer, I took a late afternoon bus to the markets. The bus was crowded with tired workers going home after a long day. Then, out of nowhere, someone started playing a guitar and singing "La Bamba." Richie Valens had nothing on this singer. Afterwards, the indigenous Mexican walked up the aisle collecting pesos from other passengers. He stopped at the driver to pay his fare.
Singing for your fare -- that was the best part of Cancun.
