Thank you for 'The Boys of Summer' story

Rudy:

I found today's story especially wonderful, since I grew up in Elmira, New York, in the 50's and early 60's, and spent many a summer afternoon and evening at Dunn Field, watching the Elmira Pioneers and their legendary manager, Earl Weaver, win a few and lose a few. I had never heard the Babe Ruth story, though.

I haven't lived in Elmira for 30 years, but this piece brought back to me something very special and totally unexpected.

What was especially creepy, however, was that the very next radio program after yours, this afternoon, was 'A Prairie Home Companion,' live from Pasadena, California, which is my wife's home town. Ah, the magic of Public Radio!

Best wishes,

Barry Portland, Oregon
