Kindness of strangers

My wife and I got an early start from deep in the Louisiana Delta. We decided to stop at the first breakfast place we saw, but not a fast food establishment. After 2 hours, we were hungry, and not even a Mickey D's was around. We saw a little gas station roadhouse in a little town near Terrehomme. The woman in the store explained that they only served lunch and supper. We thanked her and said goodbye, but explained our problem.

She then got her own thermos of coffee and heated up the grill to cook us the only four eggs she had. She apologized for not having more, and only charged us $2.

Bob
