Feedback to Christmas in Japan story

I enjoyed the Christmas in Japan story and sent it to Bren, my 21-year-old son. He has been teaching English in Thailand since last January. I asked him if Christmas was acknowledged there since it is a Buddhist country. I thought it would be interesting to be somewhere in December without all the blatant commercialism that is rampant here. Your Christmas in Japan story makes me wonder if all the commercialism is in Thailand as well. He's teaching in a Catholic School, so I was assuming it would have a more religious emphasis. (He's their token Jew.)

Incidentally, in Thailand the millennium already happened 542 years ago ,so at least they are not all worked up over THAT!

Nancy
