Extraordinary Family Vacation

We just returned from one of the best family vacations ever with our two adult children, one spouse and his nephew (18). After five months of planning a trip that would celebrate my husband's special birthday, we flew to Anchorage, were picked up next day by SkyTrekking Alaska (a Grumman 1943 Widgen) with bush pilot Lori Egge, and another amphibious plane piloted by Jaye Kelley.

Three days of phenomenal scenery, gourmet lunches wherever we felt like landing (weather permitting), bears, moose, bald eagles and glaciers millions of years old were but a few of our scenic pleasures. Then, from Sitka, a week on the yacht Explorer with captain, executive chef and steward..a sturdy boat with all the luxuries added. Gourmet cuisine, extremely comfortable quarters, CDs, videos, books, games and extraordinary up-close scenery...more bears, whales, dolphins, sea otters, more glaciers, waterfalls, salmon, halibut, shrimp, king crab. It was magic all the way, in spite of much inclement weather. We just worked around it.

And when we finally docked in Juneau for departure, and saw all the huge cruise-liners, we were even more grateful that we had chosen our private routing. We give it highest possible ratings!! (Mind you we are all extremely seasoned world travelers, having lived and worked overseas for decades, and having circled the globe on many occasions.)

This was truly the unforgettable trip my husband charted and chartered, and each of us loved it just as much!

Dodi
