Christmas in Italy

I heard the radio program where you talked about Christmas in Italy. I've spend three Christmases there and I would just warn the listener (since she said she was arriving on the 23rd) that almost no restaurants are open on Christmas Day (also the bus systems stop running at noon, etc.). Usually, I was with friends, so it did not make a difference. But once, we were driving from Belgium and couldn't make it to Rome on time. So we were in Florence for Christmas Day and nothing was open until we finally found a Chinese restaurant open with another American couple as its only guests!
