Women Traveling Solo

Hi,

I am a woman who has traveled solo in Asia, Europe, South America, the US, and Australia for extended periods of time. I would love to hear a show about woman travelers. I worked for Hostelling International for seven years, and I can't tell you how many times I have heard questions about women traveling alone. I tell them the usual things--if you feel in danger in a public place make contact with women, buy from women in markets if possible, etc., but I would really like to hear from an expert. I have had to do all my traveling on the cheap, so it would be great to hear about other women in my boat. I've had just a few harrowing experiences, and it helps to hear about others problems and victories. Could you interview a woman backpacker? I have read lots of women's travel books, so I know that their are people like me out there.

Please forgive me if you have done this already. I am a grad student and now often spend my weekend afternoons (when the show is on in NY) in a computer lab without a radio. I do try to catch the shows when they advertise places or things I want to know about (and my GPA probably suffers!)

Thanks for your great show--I love Marketplace also!

--Laura
