About those upgrades

My son and his wife just flew to London and managed to get on the top deck of a 747. They'd paid full coach fare, arrived at the airport early - asked and it was given. Then, upon their return flight, they asked for an "upgrade" and got Business Class! At no additional charge.

Tell me what their secret was? Not using WorldPerks, etc? Getting there early? Or just their smiling faces? Doesn't gray hair help?

I listen to you on Ann Arbor's WUOM and am eager to hear about how to obtain "upgrades"!

Tonight I've been attempting to use many "frequent flyer" miles on several different programs for next week and, of course, am told that it's too late! So - I'll pay full fare to fly to Bangor, Maine and plan more carefully next time.

Thanks.

Jackie
