Travel Memories Last a Lifetime

Some things I wanted to relate:

(1) In 1972, several friends and I traveled to the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico, via Mexico City from San Pedro, CA on a stripped down C-47 moving hardware to the plants that were then making Volkswagens. We spent two glorious weeks after a long, dusty and bumpy bus ride to the western coast of the Yucatan. We stayed with a family that ran a hacienda for the equivalent of $6 per night, including food and nighty parties (including a quincinera(?)). When we returned the plane was waiting, and we rode back to the states in the company of several large bales of what I thought to be marijuana.

(2) In 1976, the bicentennial year, I rode a bicycle, arriving in every state capital possible, from Sacramento, CA to Pittsburgh, PA by myself. It was the single most important trip I've done, including my travels through most of western Europe.

Have others had similar trips?

Thanks,

George
