Interview: John Ryan

I remember a great winter ice sculpture festival in Quebec City. On a silent moonlit night, wandering among those giant sculptures of pyramids and crystalline teddy bears nestled in the snow was just about enough to make you fall in love with winter.

In listening to the show, you may have picked up on the fact that I'm a non-winter person, but I loved that festival in Quebec. And I am an honorary member of two Polar Bear Clubs. I jumped into Boston's Charles River in February. The Polar Bears found it exhilarating -- I was in shock. I went digging for other winter celebrations recently and found a Web site called Festivals.com that offers an extensive list of winter weekends and carnivals.

One of the cofounders of the site, John Ryan, joins us to give us some ideas for celebrating the winter season.
