Our regular contributor Anne Marie Ruff has recently crisscrossed Asia, entering each new country ostensibly as a reporter on assignment.

Anne Marie Ruff is not a musician. As a reporter, she doesn't even write about music. But everywhere she's gone, she's recorded this little scrapbook of authentic music. These sounds create a window into the worlds she was traveling. And like any scrapbook, every page tells its own story.

We ask her about the music of the people and the sounds that are reflective of the clutter and chaos of the world's most populous continent.

Interview: Anne Marie Ruff
