An Interview with W. Hodding Carter

Author W. Hodding Carter is obsessed with the Vikings, and I'm not talking Minnesota. Think more, Haggar the Horrible. For years, Carter has been fascinated with explorer Leif Eriksson and his triumphant voyage from Greenland to North America, 1,000 years ago. In case you suffer from Fuzzy Math, that was almost 500 years before Christopher Columbus came to the New World.

Carter was so inspired by Eriksson's feat that he decided to re-enact the voyage in a replica Viking cargo ship. His first attempt ended in failure. But his second try was a success and resulted in his recent book A Viking Voyage. I recently spoke with W. Hodding Carter about his epic journey aboard a Viking-style Knarr.
