Renaissance Cruise Contest

Contest Rules

1. Entry:
No purchase necessary. Entries may be submitted online to www.savvytraveler.com or by regular mail: Renaissance Cruise Contest, c/o The Savvy Traveler, Marketplace Productions, University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA 90007. Limit one entry per person. The contest begins Saturday, October 30, 1999 and ends Monday, December 6, 1999. All entries must be received by 12:01 a.m. PST, Monday, December 6, 1999

No responsibility is assumed by Renaissance Cruises, The Savvy Traveler or its producers or the University of Southern California or Public Interactive for lost, late, misdirected, illegible, or mutilated submissions or for any computer, online, telephone or technical malfunctions that may occur.

2. Winner Selection:
Winners will be selected based on the judgment of the Savvy Traveler editorial staff and judges. Winners will be notified via telephone and or email. The winner will be announced on Friday, December 24, 1999.

3. Grand Prize:
One 10-day Tahiti & South Pacific Cruise Vacation for two from Renaissance Cruises. Prize package includes: (a) accommodations for two in an ocean view stateroom (Cat. E) aboard the ship; (b) round-trip economy air for two from Los Angeles; (c) ground transfers (from Airport to Ship; Ship to Airport), government fees and port charges; (d) all meals onboard the ship. The grand prize package does not include: shore excursions, personal onboard expenses (i.e., spa, gift shop and beverage purchases), and air travel arrangements to/from Los Angeles. All travel is subject to availability and black out periods. Blackout Dates: Cruise is available on any R3/R4 Year 2000 sail dates, excluding holiday sailings (Christmas & New Year's). The entire trip package, including airfare and cruise is valid through 12/10/00.

Renaissance Cruise will maintain possession of the Grand Prize and present any and all such prizes directly to the selected Grand Prizewinner. The Savvy Traveler is only facilitating the promotion and the selection of the Grand Prizewinner. None of The Savvy Traveler, Marketplace Productions or the University of Southern California is a cruise operator or an agent of Renaissance Cruises.

Weekly finalists not chosen for the Grand Prize will receive a travel book from Lonely Planet Travel Guides.

4. Eligibility:
This contest is open to all persons worldwide 18 and older. Void where prohibited by law. Employees of Renaissance Cruises, The Savvy Traveler and Public Interactive, their affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotional agencies and the immediate family members of each are not eligible.

5. Winners List:
The names of the Weekly Finalists and the Grand prizewinner will be read on-air during The Savvy Traveler program and will be posted on this site. Prizewinners agree to allow their name and essay to be read on-air and posted on the Savvy Traveler web site.

6. General Conditions:
You agree to abide by the terms of the Official Fine Print and by the decisions of the judges, which are final. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. All taxes on prizes are the sole responsibility of the prizewinners. Participants release and hold harmless Renaissance Cruises, The Savvy Traveler, the University of Southern California and Public Interactive, their affiliates, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees, and agents from any and all liability for injuries, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with The Savvy Traveler Tahiti Tease or any prize won.

7. Privacy Issues:
The following "privacy and data usage" policy outlines not only the philosophy of Public Interactive, but also our operational guidelines for the use of information collected on-line:

1.Public Interactive will never disclose any personally identifiable information about our audience to any third party without first receiving the user's permission. We will not collect personally identifiable information from our visitors other than that which is supplied to us on a strictly voluntary basis.

2.Visitors to Public Interactive "participating station" websites may voluntarily supply certain personally identifiable information in connection with (i) sweepstakes or contest registration, (ii) subscription registration for services that may require subscription (such as e-mail newsletters), (iii) requests for membership information to local public radio stations, and (iv) commerce transactions. In addition, personally identifiable information is voluntarily provided in connection with certain content submissions or community postings (i.e. chat, forums, reviews, or bulletin boards), comments and suggestions, or survey polling.

3.Each respective "participating station" in the Public Interactive network is provided all collected information, including aggregate user statistics, site reports, and individual user information where such data is collected through the specific station site, in an electronic format. Where such information is restricted (per opt-out instructions given by an individual user), participating stations are contractually bound to specific ranges of data use (i.e., use of such data in aggregate format only).

4.Public Interactive has a responsibility, and further commitment to data security, with respect to any information collected on participating station sites. In order to protect against the loss, misuse, and alteration of any information under our control, we employ industry standard security measures, including SSL encryption and firewall protected database servers.
